About Your Black Belt GTD Master
I want to welcome you to my GTD Getting Things Done Review site. I’ve been working with GTD since 2005 when I first picked up David Allen’s book Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress Free Productivity. I’ll have to say that for me at least, this was one of the most life changing books I have ever read, and believe me, I have read a ton of books.
Before GTD, I had stacks of paper and countless things I tried to remember in my head. For the most part I did pretty well, but as life has gone on, the number of things I have to do and to remember has gone up dramatically. Getting Things Done changed all of that to the point that I have an empty inbox and a clear head. I know what I have to do (even if I don’t do it).
I started this site because most of the people in my circle don’t share my enthusiasm for setting up a system to manage all of my committments. Maybe, it’s because I never did the things that alot of people did already, like keep a calendar or a to do list for that matter. And once I did, I thought wow, everyone should know about how great this system is.
Getting Things Done is one of those books that really speaks to some people and not to others. Maybe if I had read it at another time it might not have spoke to me quite like it did. But it did. And my life has changed for the better because of it. Whether it’s exercise, eating right or getting your stuff done, you have to find what works for you and GTD works for me extremely well.
As good as GTD is, there are a lot of people that still have questions after they have read it. When you read the book it makes you think that you’ll take a weekend and ta-da! you’ll have it all under control. In reality though, it takes a while to get everything working the way you want it and you have to keep at it.
That’s what this blog is about. It’s about getting your GTD system setup. It’s about perfecting it. How far you want to take it is completely up to you. As I go along, feel free to ask questions. I encourage you to do it in the comments where everyone can benefit.
Thanks and I hope you enjoy the site.
